Director, Software Engineering - Cryptographic Services

We are seeking a Director of Software Engineering who is passionate about growing and sustaining an innovative technology organization while fostering a culture of engineering and operational excellence.

The Director of Software Engineering will be part of the Cyber Data Protection organization. In this role, you will lead a team of software engineers and subject matter experts to deliver Cryptographic Services to the enterprise.

Your expertise in software engineering and knowledge of cryptography will position you to provide meaningful support to internal customers and stakeholders, to build and deliver against strategic roadmaps, and to problem solve and solution in an collaborative and innovative way.

What You’ll Do :

Lead a team of analysts and engineers to deliver cryptographic key and certificate management solutions to the broader Capital One enterprise.

Work with internal product teams to create a compelling vision for the Crypto Services program, build and maintain roadmaps, and measure delivery.

Interface with internal customers and stakeholders to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions for complex use cases.

Lead complex vendor relationships and ensure well-managed integration of vendor platforms into our broader Capital One ecosystem

Create and implement processes to drive well managed delivery, focusing on principles of engineering excellence and operational maturity.

Manage risk proactively and effectively, leveraging enterprise risk management processes.

Coach and mentor engineers through their career development and performance.

Basic Qualifications

At least 7 years of experience in Cyber Security

At least 5 years of experience in Software Development

At least 5 years of people leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications :

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field

10+ years of professional experience coding

10+ years of professional experience in the full lifecycle of system development, from conception through architecture, implementation, testing, deployment and production support

3+ years of experience in managing cryptographic services

3+ years of experience with public cloud technologies

Capital One will consider sponsoring a new qualified applicant for employment authorization for this position.

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

San Francisco and San Jose, California (Hybrid On-Site) : $291,100 - $332,300 for Director, Software Engineering

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and / or long term incentives (LTI).
