Job Summary
The Office of Disability Services is seeking dependable and conscientious student workers to support the efforts of disability services.
As a representative of the disability services office the student worker will need to be trustworthy while paying close attention to procedures of confidentiality.
The student must be able to interact with a variety of different people while portraying a positive friendly attitude at all times.
Responsibilities
- Provide assistance to faculty, staff, students and parents
- Answer phones and schedule appointments
- Assist with special projects, such as disability awareness program
- Assist students with various disabilities
- Assist students by scribing, reading exams aloud, and assisting with labs
- Assist in clerical tasks including faxing, filing, scanning documents, campus errands, etc.
- Work with assistive technology
- Attend transition events
- Maintain office organization
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Must have Federal Work Study award
- Must be currently enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Georgia Gwinnett College
- Must be in good academic standing and maintain good standing for the duration of employment
- Must be in good conduct standing with the Office of Student Integrity and maintain good conduct for the duration of employment
- Must be able to handle confidential information
Preferred Qualifications
- Must be able to professionally interact with faculty, staff, students, and parents
- Must be responsible, able to follow instruction, and work independently
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Must be articulate for the purpose of reading exams aloud
- Have excellent penmanship for scribing
- Pursuing a degree in technology, medicine, nursing, or psychology
- For scribing purposes, must be pursuing a degree in math, accounting, business management, or education
