A postpartum nurse assumes care for the mother / baby couplet shortly following delivery. The nurse monitors the mother frequently during her recovery period and the body's transition back to normalcy.

The nurse monitors the baby's transitional period from intrauterine into the world. Supporting breastfeeding is a key component in the postpartum period for the couplet dyad.

Maintaining pain control, educating on self-care and newborn care along with handling deviations from current plan of care are top priorities for the RN.

Sign-On / Relocation Bonus Information : This position is eligible for a competitive Sign-On Bonus. Candidates who are relocating 50 miles or further are also eligible for relocation assistance.

Schedule : Full time nights- 3x12 hour shifts per week : 7pm-7am

Required Experience : A minimum of 1 year of Registered Nurse clinical experience in the acute care setting. Two years of postpartum care strongly preferred.

Minimum Education Requirement :

Education : BSN from an accredited school of nursing.

If RN has an Associate’s Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.

Minimum Licensure / Certification Requirement :

o Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Virginia or hold a privilege to practice in the State of Virginia under the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).

o Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association required upon start
