The Cancer Institute is now hiring for a team-oriented and compassionate Medical Assistant!

Position Summary & Highlights

This MA position will primarily work with new patient scheduling and will float within the clinic supporting a variety of providers and staff.

What You Will Do :

You will schedule new patient appointments for a variety of treatments and will work with the scheduling work queues.

You will coordinate and partner with the clinical care team to help support all aspects of patient care while patients are undergoing treatment.

This may include complete chart prep, assist patients with moving within the clinics, rooming and taking vitals, and setting up for procedures.

You will also work a lot on the computer including items in the work queue, scheduling new patients, scheduling patients for procedures, related appointments, and follow up visits and complete related paperwork.

An ideal candidate will be well organized, proficient, detail-oriented, have great communication skills, and enjoy a fast-paced environment.

You will have strong experience with EPIC and knowledge of orders.

You will also desire being part of a strong team and enjoy connecting with patients and developing relationships with them.

Work Schedule :

4 - 10 hour days, Mondays - Fridays, with Thursdays day off.

Around the hours of 7 : 30am - 6 : 00pm. Clinic start and end time can vary based on staffing needs.

This position will NOT work weekends or major holidays.

Minimum Qualifications :

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

MA certification required within 90 days of eligibility to take a national certification exam from one of the following Saint Alphonsus approved agencies :

American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA)

American Medical Technologists (RMA)

National Healthcare Association (CCMA)

National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA)

American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA)

Completion of either 6 months MA experience or completion of 100-hour MA externship is required even with MA certification.

Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire.

Obtaining the MA certification typically requires completing an MA Program or working as a Medical Assistant for at least 1 year.
