Overview

Position Summary : The Pharmacy Tech is under direct supervision of a registered Pharmacist and assists in all phases of pharmacy functions.

The pharmacy technician is responsible for the preparation of sterile and non-sterile products, filling medication orders for patients, processing daily patient charges, and working with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure medications are delivered to patients in a safe and timely manner.

Other responsibilities include filling automated dispensing cabinets in patient care areas, checking for expired medications, and maintaining pharmacy inventory.

Minimum Qualifications : 1 year experience healthcare experience; specifically hospital experience is required. Ability to speak, read and write the English language.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrates ability to effectively interface with Doctors, Nurses and other hospital employees.

A good team player. Proven attention to detail. Knowledge of various Pharmacy dispensing systems and equipment, including but not limited to Cerner, Pyxis , and Autopharm Carousel.

Knowledge of USP 797 and USP 800 requirements for sterile compounding. Minimum typing skills of 30 wpm with knowledge of various computer applications and systems.

Education / Licensure / Certifications : Graduate of a Pharmacy Technician School preferred. Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB ) preferred.

California Pharmacy Technician License

Hours : Morning and afternoons shifts with variable hours plus every other weekend

Pay Scale Information

$46,800.00-$80,850.00

The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description.
