The Training and Technical Assistance Specialist has primary responsibilities in the development and delivery of Parents as Teachers (PAT) training, technical assistance, quality improvement, and coaching for professionals providing PAT home visiting services to families with young children.

The Specialist will work statewide to promote knowledge and skill development in work with home visiting programs to advance the overall impact and quality of the home visiting field.

The Specialist works in collaboration to develop and deliver multiple modalities of training, technical assistance, and coaching;

this includes PAT training; developing and delivering other trainings in support of home visiting best practice; and delivering individual technical assistance focused on improving quality and impact of home visiting services.

This position will facilitate model specific and cross model Communities of Practice based on home visiting core competencies, research, and best practices.

They will also serve as a key member of the Washington Home Visiting Team that supports quality implementation of home visiting statewide.

Reporting to the PAT State Lead, you will :

Acquire and maintain certification as a Parents as Teachers trainer, providing at least four PAT trainings per year. Attend required PAT trainers’ meetings.

Coordinate with the PAT State Leader as a vital part of the PAT State Office team in maintaining the annual PAT Revenue Share.

Coordinate with the PAT State Leader to develop and deliver PAT Supervisor meetings and PAT Communities of Practice / Small Group learning opportunities.

  • Work in coordination with the Manager of Training and other team members to contribute to the development and delivery of course content for new and revised trainings, based on the Washington State Home Visiting core competencies, and home visiting best practice.
  • Schedule, conduct and document individual technical assistance and coaching provided to PAT affiliates. Assist in developing methods for improving technical assistance in program design, model fidelity, home visiting, parent child relationships, developmental screening and case management, or other specific program areas.
  • Develop and facilitate Communities of Practice for home visitors and supervisors across multiple models to promote peer learning on general home visiting competencies, capacities, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Work with statewide partners, local affiliates, and Visit Tracker to ensure affiliates enter all required data into their data system while providing support to the PAT programs around performance measures.
  • Support local affiliate use of data for decision making regarding program best practices and quality service delivery.
  • Collaborate with SEWA staff on processes, projects and cross functional teams to ensure home visiting is represented and integrated in Start Early work and early learning systems work across the state.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications :

  • Degree in early childhood, family studies, social work, human services, education, RN or related field, preferred.
  • 5 years of relevant work experience in early childhood or family support programming
  • 3 + years of PAT experience, providing or overseeing the provision of home visitation to pregnant women or families with young children.
  • 3+ years of PAT implementation and leadership experience
  • 2 + year’s experience teaching and coaching adult learners, public speaking, presentation, consultation and facilitation skills.
  • Experience in Tribal Home Visiting preferred
  • Highly collaborative work style, able to empower groups and bring diverse thinking together through strong facilitation skills and ability to listen
  • Working knowledge of adult learning styles, issues in staff development and supervision strategies.
  • Commitment to centering diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and with partners.
  • Strong proficiency with Visit Tracker
  • Ability to use data to assess quality, performance, and inform potential system and practice improvements
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, 365, Word, Zoom, MS Teams, etc)
  • Ability to design, plan, and provide competency-based training, consultation and technical assistance.
  • Passion for overcoming the opportunity gap in learning for all children and families
  • Ability to locate and obtain resources to promote professional development
  • Effective verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of and respect for diversity (in ideas, individuals and groups), cultural sensitivity and inclusion in all areas of work
  • Travel independently in diverse communities across Washington as necessary with some overnight stays required (up to 30%).

The base annual salary will be based on a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, experience, as well as business needs and limitations.
