Our client is a leading General Contractor (GC) one of the largest, publicly traded construction and infrastructure development companies.

Who specialist Heavy Civils & Infrastructure projects is currently recruiting for a Senior Civils Estimator based in there New Jersey office.

This position will appeal to a highly competitive, results oriented Civils Estimator who aspires to advance their career in construction by accepting a key role in the development of our client’s project management / estimating team working on new and existing business contacts throughout the region working on private and municipal projects.

Reporting to the Chief Estimator and working within a team, this position involves estimating Heavy Civil construction projects ranging in size from $, to $ multi billion dollar values.

The successful Lead / Senior Civils Estimator must have the ability and drive to turn around multiple tenders / bids in a couple of days.

Types of projects include Civils Estimator Highways, Structures, Bridges, Tunnels, Foundations HEAVY CIVILS

The Lead / Senior Estimator will be used to working in a fast-paced office and will be responsible for the timely and accurate completion of tenders from initiation through to tender closing.

As my client do not self-perform you will have to be experienced in selling out works to sub-contractors also. Must be a bid / tender closing expert managing multiple tenders weekly.

As a major player, they lead the way in complex projects such as highway infrastructure, airfields projects, landfills, bridges and other major types of infrastructure projects.

Senior Civils Estimator Role Overview :

A thorough understanding of tender documents the successful candidate will prepare detailed cost estimates using estimating software of the full project scope including labour, equipment, raw materials, purchased equipment and subcontractors.

Tender closings are to meet all submission deadlines. The candidate ideally possesses a demonstrated, solid background in Heavy civils tendering involving all scopes of earth and rock grading, aggregate manufacturing, road building, underground services, bridge and structure construction a to establish tender costs from first principles.

Key responsibilities :

• Accurately interpret and comprehend tender drawings and specifications for all projects
• Present all aspects of the project scope, staging, timing, constraints, risks, and potential cost saving opportunities and alternatives to internal staff
• Able to successfully and independently lead a Design-Build project through the tender stage, including involvement in team meetings
• Ability to chair meetings and set project goals
• Perform and / or direct quantity take-offs from tender drawings
• Prepare initial tender schedule for handoff to field staff
• Consistently and insightfully formulate all tender costs labour, material, equipment, and procure subcontractor scope and costs for quotation submission
• Close tenders including tender reviews and sub-proposal reviews and analysis
• Accountable for accuracy of tender submissions
• Prepares bid bond and insurance request forms
• Maintain files and correspondence on active tenders
• Customer follow-up on submitted tenders / proposals
• Cost out potential scope of work changes / additional cost / claims situations
• Monitor active projects and provide job cost evaluation to management
• Provide technical support to field staff
• Communicate with field staff and Clients
• Assist in maintenance of estimating department policies, procedures and standards
