Good Shepherd Shelter is a program of Catholic Charities of Los Angeles, Inc., which is a transitional shelter for women and children who are escaping domestic violence.

The shelter provides shelter in individual apartment units at no cost, case management, trauma-informed therapy for mothers and children, an on-site elementary school, an adult learning center, food, and legal resources.

Good Shepherd Shelter is seeking a dependable, caring individual who has experience working with a transitional shelter or has a passion for helping those in need.

Professional experience in working with domestic violence survivors is strongly preferred. This position will assist the Director in the administration and management of a large program.

Depending on organizational model, either assumes primary responsibility for a major section of the program or assumes primary responsibility for key program-wide functions such as fiscal and budget management, quality improvement, and / or resource development.

Supervise the work of employees and / or volunteers.

Responsibilities :

  • Responsible for program in the absence of the Director.
  • Act as a liaison between various organizations, governmental agencies and community leaders in the region.
  • Supervise program staff and maintenance program records in accordance with approved standards and practices.
  • Serve as a primary assistant to the Director in development, including staff retention, grant applications, contracts, budgets and operation of the program.
  • Ensures compliance with standards established by federal, state, and local government.
  • Provides staff development and training to ensure competency in domestic violence dynamics and trauma-informed care.
  • Manage clinical needs across the shelter program, including providing interim clinical services to families during referral process.
  • Develops Continuous Quality Improvement and service delivery that is aligned with the Agency’s mission.
  • Displays sensitivity to the client population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications :

  • Master’s Degree in Counseling or Social Work.
  • LMFT or LCSW preferred.
  • Five to eight years of experience.
  • Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills towards individuals experiencing crisis
  • Experience in Staff Supervision
  • Strong computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite
  • Handle public contact and relations effectively.
  • Communicate effectively in written and oral form.
  • Display sensitivity, tact and responsiveness in various situations and needs.
  • Spanish Preferred
