We are looking for a Director of Product Innovation for one of our clients in Stoughton, MAOur client is a swimming pool supply store in Stoughton, MA*Title : * Director of Product Innovation*Location* : Stoughton, MA*Hours* : Mon-Fri 8AM-5PM*Pay : * *$150-180K annually Duration : Permanent Placement with Benefits this position does NOT require vaccination Job Summary : *The Director of Product Innovation is responsible for all product portfolios for water related outdoor products and associated deliverables within the company.
Working closely with executive leadership, sales team, category management and product development teams in both US and Asia, this role will help to innovate, develop and implement the product strategy through sufficient competitive analysis and execute that strategy from ideation through commercialization.
- Job Duties : Develop, Drive and Manage growth and profitability for all product lines.
- Work closely and collaboratively with key stakeholders including Sourcing, Product Engineering, Sales, Finance and Marketing teams in both US and Asia to ensure cross-functional buy-in on key, strategic initiatives.
- Continuously align product development focus with brand strategy.* Champion KPI’s and product vitality in core product categories to identify white space, needs and opportunities on a real time and forward-looking basis.
- Frequent analysis of market condition, sales performance, competitive environment, retail and product assortment gaps.* Co-own annual marketing plan for all brands through all key and developing sales channels.
Assist Marketing Department in coordinating consistent brand look and voice through all customer and consumer facing messaging.
- Manage all product related 3rd party suppliers and both internal industrial design engineers.* Provide all necessary product related information (specifications and key selling features) to cross functional teams for product ideation creation and all marketing related materials / content.
- Work collaboratively across departments to assure timely, accurate and complete launch cycles for all product categories.
- Participate in key sales presentations as a product expert resource.* Collaborate, establish and shepherd comprehensive specification and testing process requirements with QA / QC teams.
- Identify, implement, and manage, new PLM software with cross functional team.* Work together with sourcing team to discover new suppliers and locations for advantageous manufacturing options.
- Travel international to meet and work with factory management toward the design, development and introduction of a robust new product pipeline.
- Requires significant international travel, and long periods of air, train, and remote area travel.* Continuously negotiate with suppliers in conjunction with sourcing and product development teams in Far East to secure best possible outcomes for cost, profitability, quality, and timing.
- Manage product category team and designers via a collaborative, customer focused strategy. Meet regularly both individually and as a team to gauge productivity, work-life balance, resources, and growth opportunities.
- Collaborate with marketing team for product packaging development with strong marketing sense being adaptable to multiple requests and daily changes.
- Requirements : Bachelor’s degree in product engineering or industrial design.* A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in product development within an environment of both manufactured and sourced finished goods.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a senior management position managing multi-location teams.* Exposure to working with Asian imports and Asian sourcing team.
- Enthusiasm in product development and innovation with rich experiences and knowledge in inflatable, plastic injection, cut & sew, and other categories for efficient NPD execution.
- Ability to prioritize, track and meet deadlines.* Data-driven with strong data analysis skill set.*Extra Preferred Qualifications that are not required : ?
- Experience with acquisitions and integrations.
- Extensive experience partnering with Asian or offshore manufacturers.* Master’s degree in engineering, business, or product design.
