Overview

The Associate Director of Media Planning leads the strategic direction and is tasked with being a marketing partner for the clients. The expectation is to be an expert on the clients’ business and a leader on the day-to-day client business and within the agency. You will demonstrate a strong working knowledge of the media space, for both digital and traditional channels, and available media research. This individual is responsible for identifying business opportunities and solutions on a regular basis. The role sets the tone for how the account is managed, focusing on client objectives while maintaining profitability.

This position is based in Detroit and reports to the Group Director of Planning.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for media plan output timeliness, accuracy, and overall excellence
  • Utilize resources (syndicated, proprietary, analyst data) to guide client’s marketing goals and apply to strategic recommendations
  • Work closely with activation department leads (programmatic, social, search, retail search, and shopper) to outline processes and timelines for flawless execution across national, local, and regional campaigns
  • Comfortable using data for storytelling and familiar with general media analytics and MMM models
  • Build and maintain trusting, collaborative relationships with clients at appropriate levels
  • Accurately represent the client’s point of view when reviewing work and providing feedback to the team and client
  • Understand and analyze root causes of problems and develop ways to rectify

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of communications / integrated media planning experience
  • Experience developing and executing tactical campaigns for traditional and digital channels
  • Understanding of key research sources
  • Knowledge of current trends and innovations in media and culture
  • Working knowledge of Insights tools (MRI, Simmons) and competitive tools (Nielsen Ad Intel, Kantar Strateg y)
  • Experience with MediaTools and buying platforms (DDS, MediaOcean, HudsonMX)
  • Solid understanding of digital tools (DCM, comScore, eMarketer, Forrester, etc.)
