The RCP will be responsible for administering Cardiopulmonary therapeutic modalities to patients of all ages; maintain airways of patients with respiratory arrest, administer adequate ventilation via ambu or mechanical ventilation in the patients who cannot effectively ventilate for themselves.
Assists in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with pulmonary disorders. Collects and analyzes sputum, blood, and breath specimens to determine levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other gases.
Also measures the lung capacity of a patient to determine if there is impaired function. Administers treatment prescribed by a physician for the care of patients with abnormalities associated with the process of breathing.
Assumes primary responsibility for respiratory care treatments, including oversight of respiratory therapy technicians.
May be cross-trained to other duties within the CPS department but outside the normal curriculum of respiratory care. (Ex.
EEG, EKG, Stress testing, Sleep Studies
Additional Job Description
Education : Graduate of an accredited college of Respiratory Therapy.
Licenses / Certification : Respiratory Therapist credentialed by the NBRC as a Registered Respiratory Therapist or awaiting NBRC exam and possess a current South Carolina License.
Must have and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) with the American Heart Association and Neonatal Resuscitation Program.
