About The Position
Job Title : Respiratory Therapist Job Specialty : Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Job Duration : 13 weeks Shift : 6 : 00 PM - 6 : 30 AM Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours per week Experience : Minimum of 2 years of critical care experience License : Required Certifications : BLS, ACLS, PALS (AHA), NRP NBRC Must-Have : Adult Critical Care Experience- Emergency Department Experience- Neonatal / Pediatrics Experience- Cerner Experience- Experience with all patient populations Job Description : Perform evaluations and administer respiratory care treatments in accordance with physician orders / protocols.
- Educate patients with cardiopulmonary disabilities, injuries, and / or diseases.- Assemble, check for proper function, identify malfunctions of equipment, and take action to correct malfunctions.
- Collect and evaluate additional pertinent clinical information by assessing patient's overall cardiopulmonary status.- Conduct therapeutic procedures to achieve adequate spontaneous and artificial ventilation.
- Maintain patient airway, including the care of artificial airways and removal of bronchial pulmonary secretions.- Determine the appropriateness of prescribed respiratory care plan, recommend modifications where indicated, and participate in the development of care plans.
- Evaluate and monitor patient response to respiratory care.- Explain care plan, therapy, and goals to patients, maintaining records of communication.
- Initiate, conduct, or modify respiratory care techniques in an emergency setting.- Make necessary modifications in therapeutic procedures and recommend care plan modifications based on patient response.
- Perform procedures as listed in general and critical care competency checklist and interpret results.- Protect patient from nosocomial infection by adhering to infection control policies and procedures.
- Serve as a resource for complicated respiratory care cases or procedures.- Provide in-service education to the department.
