About The Position
Job Title : Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty : PCU / Med Surg / Oncology (Stepdown) Job Duration : 13 weeks Shift : 12-Hour Nights Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours per week Experience : Minimum 2 years License : Required Certifications : ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have : Ability to pass an open-book skills exam with a minimum score of 90% Job Description : Care for patients in a mixed unit of PCU, Med Surg, and Oncology.
- Manage a patient ratio of 1 : 4 in PCU and 1 : 5 in Med Surg during day shifts; 1 RN to 5-6 patients during night shifts.
- Participate in a two-day orientation.- Titrate drips such as insulin and occasionally cardizem.- Utilize RT equipment available on the floor.
- Float between med / surg and PCU units as needed.- Collaborate with additional unit support staff, including PT / OT, RN case manager, social work, educator, and dietician.
- Administer medications, including chemotherapy, heparin, cardizem, and protonix.- Participate in hourly rounding to enhance patient experience.
- Exhibit teamwork and cultural sensitivity in the care setting.- Work every third weekend and self-schedule shifts.- Utilize EMR system EPIC with Alaris IV Pumps.
- Engage in real-time training for ventilator management and other hemodynamic monitoring.- Show a genuine need to care for patients, maintain a positive attitude, and foster teamwork.
This position involves caring for a diverse range of patients and requires a commitment to compassion and teamwork. The ability to adapt to varying patient needs and demonstrate respectful interactions with patients of different cultural and religious backgrounds is crucial.
