Job Description
The Cashier / Sales Associate functions as a support member for the sales floor, our customers and donors; responsible for proving exceptional customer service, completing transaction on the register, stocking merchandise, keeping the store clean, safe and organized at all times.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet customers with a warm and friendly attitude, assist and help with customer’s questions and requests
- Efficiently and accurately process cash credit, and debit card transactions while following proper procedures
- Restock and arrange merchandise on shelves, racks and displays showing
- Remove merchandise from the sales floor when appropriate
- Cross train in all front-of-house areas
- Housekeeping and cleaning duties
- Maintain a clean and safe work area, report any potential hazards at the store
- Work independently and professionally, be effective and efficient in all tasks, pay close attention to detail
- Collaborate with sales floor team to meet sales targets and achieve excellent customer service standards
- Assist in training and guiding new team members as needed
- Follow policies and procedures
- Perform additional and alternate roles at the request of supervisor
Required Skills and Abilities
- Engaging customer service and cash handling experience
- Friendly personality, trustworthy, paying close attention to detail, punctual and dependable, meets attendance requirements
- Strong work ethic, showing initiative and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
- Excellent communication and math skills, strong organizational skills
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English, bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus
- Physical stamina with frequent standing, bending, walking, ability to push / pull / lift 15-20 lbs
- Flexibility to work weekdays / nights, weekends, and holidays based on store’s operational needs, overtime may be required
- High School Diploma or equivalent certificate
Workplace Setting
The job requires frequent standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, use of hands and fingers; reaching with hands and arms;
climbing stairs; and balance. Shifts include hours before and after the store is open to the public and may include mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
