How you’ll contribute :
As a Risk Governance Associate, you’ll be responsible in supporting the Operational Risk and Risk Governance group to provide effective challenge, manage and mitigate model risks, and maintain model inventory, risk assessment and model control standards by working both independently and collaborate as part of a team with dependence on relationships throughout the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd lines of defense.
In this role, you’ll get to :
- Support the biannual model certification process.
- Collaborate with model stakeholders across all three lines of defense to enhance and maintain the model inventory and dependency network.
- Work with Model Risk Management Group, Corporate Risk Management (CRM), and Internal Audit to ensure model development, implementation, and use is successful.
- Streamline and prepare model risk reporting for senior management, the Model Risk Working Group, and other management committees.
- Collaborate with the Model Validation Group and 1st LOD stakeholders to obtain issues management updates and support issue closure.
- Lead MRM’s use of OpenPages for the model inventory, risk assessments, and issues management.
- Adhere to Brighthouse Financial’s Corporate Risk Management (CRM) mission to ensure a comprehensive framework for understanding the risks embedded in and across its businesses, so that the company can manage these risks effectively, evaluate current and future risk challenges and opportunities, and enhance shareholder value.
- Support annual review and ongoing maintenance of MRM’s suite of policies, procedures, and guidance.
- Support model governance in ad-hoc requests and special projects, as needed.
- Support Operational Risk Management in ad-hoc requests and special projects, as needed.
We’re looking for people who have :
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college / university, preferred.
- 3+ years of professional experience in model risk governance or corporate risk governance, preferably in the insurance or financial services industry.
- Advanced analytical capabilities and MS Excel skills. Experience with Power BI or a comparable BI tool is preferred
- Experience with GRC technology solutions (i.e., IBM OpenPages) and knowledge of other key IT systems (e.g., GEP SMART, SAP, Concur, ServiceNow)
- Solid understanding of risk management frameworks and industry best practices
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills who works well in a collaborative team environment
- Demonstrated ability to work in a diverse environment adhering to the highest ethical standards
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and remain adaptable
