JOB SUMMARY
This job is in the Plant family (Department), which includes positions responsible for supervising or performing work metals processing and distribution work.
Work includes specialized equipment operation and / or supporting functions and requires a practical knowledge of the nature and operations and the materials, facilities and methods employed by Phoenix Metals in metals processing and distribution.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for overseeing activities directly related to daily production and plant operations.
- Assists the Operations Manager in directing and coordinating all production and distribution activities for the organization.
- Reviews warehouse production reports, activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas needing program improvement.
- Responsible for warehouse safety, housekeeping and preventative maintenance programs.
- Assists the Operations Manager in implementation of organizational policies, goals, objectives, and procedures, conferring with other members of management and staff members as necessary.
- Manages staff, preparing work schedules and assigning specific duties.
- Coaches and mentors warehouse and production staff.
- Promotes branch production goals, objectives, and systems, and recommends necessary changes to the Operations Manager.
- Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of operations.
- Develops and promotes feedback mechanisms for employees to promote continuous improvement.
- Responsible for adhering to / ensuring compliance with applicable safety and quality standards.
REQUIRED & PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1-5 years of management experience or any equivalent combination of education and inventory management or relevant operations experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
- High School diploma / GED required, Associate degree in Business or related field preferred
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, cost, inventory and quality management, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacturing and distribution of goods required .
- Understanding of company product(s) and their uses required .
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively required .
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required .
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills required .
- Ability to make sound decisions based on a combination of factors including analysis, knowledge and experience, and judgment required .
- Ability to initiate and maintain cooperative relationships with co-workers as well as internal / external customers required .
- Basic computer proficiency and working knowledge of software applications required.
Light work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and / or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
If the use of arm and / or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that of sedentary work and if the worker sits most of the time, the job is considered light work.
