A law firm in Atlanta is seeking a dedicated Patent Agent or Technical Advisor to join their team. The ideal candidate will possess top academic credentials and have a background in electrical, computer, mechanical, industrial, manufacturing engineering, or computer science.

A Master’s degree or Ph.D. is preferred. The role involves assisting in patent prosecution and providing technical expertise to support the firm’s intellectual property practice.

Duties :

  • Assist in patent prosecution, including drafting and filing patent applications.
  • Conduct thorough technical research to support patent applications.
  • Work closely with attorneys to analyze patentability and prepare legal opinions.
  • Provide technical expertise and support in patent litigation and other intellectual property matters.
  • Communicate with clients to understand their inventions and technical innovations.
  • Assist in preparing responses to office actions from patent offices.
  • Keep up-to-date with technological advancements and industry trends relevant to the firm’s practice.
  • Collaborate with other members of the intellectual property team to ensure the highest quality of work.
  • Attend meetings and provide technical guidance and support to clients and attorneys.

Requirements :

  • 1+ years of patent prosecution experience.
  • Strong technical background in electrical, computer, mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering, or computer science.
  • Top academic credentials.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Education and Certifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, computer, mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering, or computer science.
  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. preferred.
  • Admission to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (preferred but not required).

Skills :

  • Proficiency in technical research and analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Experience :

1+ years of patent prosecution experience.
