Staff Data Scientist
Overview
This company is seeking a highly skilled Staff Data Scientist II to join their team in Los Angeles (Playa Vista). As a Staff Data Scientist II, you will play a critical role in analyzing and interpreting complex data sets to drive strategic decisions and improve their games.
You will work closely with their game development, marketing, and user experience teams to uncover insights and create predictive models that enhance player experiences and optimize game performance.
This position requires all hires to be onsite Monday - Thursday, with the option to work from home on Friday.
What You'll Do
Predictive Data Modeling
Develop and implement predictive models to forecast player behavior, game performance, and market trends.Utilize advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to build robust models for player retention, monetization, and engagement.
Game Data Analytics
Analyze large and complex datasets to extract meaningful insights that inform game design and development.Conduct A / B testing and multivariate experiments to evaluate the impact of game features and updates.
Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop dashboards to track and visualize game performance metrics.
Collaboration and Communication
Work closely with game designers, developers, and product managers to understand their data needs and provide actionable insights.
Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.Mentor and guide junior data scientists and analysts within the team.
Data Infrastructure and Tools
Develop and maintain data pipelines and infrastructure to ensure data accuracy and accessibility.Utilize tools such as SQL, Python, R, and data visualization software (Databricks) to analyze and present data.
What It Takes
Education
PhD or a Master's degree with equivalent experience in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
Experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience in data science, with a focus on predictive modeling and analytics. Proven experience in the mobile or console gaming industry is highly preferred.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or similar.Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with large-scale data processing.
Expertise in machine learning algorithms, statistical analysis, and data mining techniques.Experience with data visualization tools (e.
g., Tableau, Power BI) and A / B testing methodologies.
