Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg unit with night shifts and a minimum of two years’ experience required.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in a Medical Surgical unit within a hospital setting
  • Patient ratios are 1 : 7
  • Night shifts available with options for either three or four 12-hour shifts per week (18 : 30 - 07 : 00)
  • Travelers are not permitted to administer chemotherapy
  • Every other weekend is required
  • No on-call requirement
  • Floating to other units may be required
  • Nurses are expected to support nursing student education alongside clinical care responsibilities
  • General orientation starts online on Sundays, with 16 hours of non-billable orientation included
  • Mandatory completion of electronic learning modules averaging 4-5 hours during orientation
  • Nurses must be flexible to work either 36 or 48 hour weekly schedules based on contract
  • Hospital reserves the right to cancel one shift biweekly due to census fluctuations
  • AHA certifications are required (no alternatives accepted)
  • Local candidates are not eligible for this position

  • Active TN RN or compact license in hand at the time of consideration
  • A minimum of two years of recent Med / Surg nursing experience is required
  • American Heart Association BLS certification required
  • Must live at least 100 miles from the facility
  • Fit testing according to CDC guidelines requires facial hair to be trimmed or removed
  • Candidates must be available for drug testing within 12-14 days prior to start and able to retest if required
  • Charge nurse experience is preferred but not required
  • First-time travelers are accepted
