IT Project Manager Overview :

Under general supervision, the IT Project Manager will oversee the planning, development, timeline, budget, and scope of IT projects.

Individuals in this position will be responsible for the creation, organization, execution, and completion of specific IT projects including internal software development and vendor package implementation.

This role will be setting deadlines, communicating with relevant stakeholders, reporting on project status, and ensuring projects adhere to outlined deadlines and budgets.

The IT Project Manager must demonstrate excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, proficiency in project management software and tools, and ability to establish effective working relationships with staff, executive management, and vendors.

Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Analyzes departmental IT PMO policies regarding customer service and efficiency; recommends policy changes and process improvements.
  • Oversees IT projects from development to implementation and deployment to production. Tasks include working with management during the planning and development process, providing support for long-term compliance of IT projects, assisting with defining project scopes and objectives, tracking projects and budgets, and updating data using project management software such as DevOps.
  • Attends meetings with leadership to discuss project pipelines and ensure projects are initiated through the established project intake process utilizing tools, templates, policies, and metrics.
  • Works closely with management to create, monitor, and adjust internal processes that further promotes efficient project execution.
  • Collaborates with IT Managers to develop detailed implementation plans, project estimates, project schedules, and resource allocation.
  • Ensures adherence to departmental IT processes and quality standards while reviewing project deliverables.
  • Conducts meetings to report on project performance, analytics, and status.
  • Serves as the point of contact for all projects, which involves communicating and presenting to project stakeholders, executive management, and other key project personnel to provide regular updates on project status and arising issues.
  • Provides technical and analytical guidance to the project team, recommending solutions to arising issues.
  • Manages the integration of vendor tasks, tracks, and reviews vendor deliverables.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education :

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a directly related field.

Experience :

Seven (7) years of progressive work experience in the Information Technology field, including a minimum of five (5) years of experience in IT Project Management and two (2) years of experience leading projects utilizing an agile project methodology.

Licensure :

Valid Driver's License (Texas upon hire)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Comprehensive knowledge of project management principles and methodologies.
  • Proficient in project management software and tools, such as Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills, and the ability to deal tactfully with a diverse audience in a complex organization.
  • Self-starter and capable of working under minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously to meet project objectives and deliverables.

Position Type, and Typical Hours of Work :

  • Full-Time Regular
  • Monday - Friday from 8 : 00 am to 5 : 00 pm.
  • Occasional weekends, holidays, and overtime may be required based on the specific needs and demands of the department.

Work Environment :

This position is based in an office environment, where the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, scanners, and filing cabinets is routine.

Physical Demands :

  • The physical demands associated with this job are minimal, with occasional lifting and moving of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
  • The role is predominantly sedentary, involving mainly sitting with occasional standing and walking.

Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
