Department Summary

In partnership with and in support of administrative stakeholders, the Business Information Technology team designs, develops, configures, enhances, optimizes, and maintains products and platforms that enable UCLA's business functions (e.

g., Budget & Financial Management, Student Information, Faculty Information, Business Information, Human Resource Information, Customer Relationship Management).

Position Summary

The Director, Budget & Financial Management Products will hold the primary responsibility of shaping the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Budget & Financial Management suite of technology products end-to-end.

This leader will oversee a cross-functional team, which includes product managers, software developers, business analysts, and application administrators, to ensure efficient product development and delivery through effective collaboration and alignment.

Guided by a deep understanding of customer needs and market trends, the Director will drive product development to meet strategic objectives and create a significant impact for end-users.

Additionally, the role will provide strategic direction to the Manager, Procure to Pay Products and Manager, Financial Management Products as they oversee all aspects of product lifecycle management, from budgeting and resource allocation to performance metrics and risk mitigation.

The Director will also act as an ambassador for their product group, fostering robust relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, all while championing innovation and excellence within their product portfolio.

The Director, Budget & Financial Management Products will positively impact UCLA's operations and culture by enabling University stakeholders to effectively leverage Budget & Financial Management products and applications.

This team member will advance the University's mission by delivering exceptional information technology services comprehensively and consistently across faculty, staff, and students.

This role will execute UCLA's vision while modeling UCLA's culture and values.

Salary & Compensation

UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.

Qualifications

  • Seven years experience working in one or more of the following fields : information technology, computer science,management, finance, higher education or a related field. (Required)
  • Ten or more years experience working in one or more of the following fields : information technology, computer science,management, finance, or higher education. (Preferred)
  • Five years experience leading teams in a management or leadership role, particularly in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment, or a related field. (Required)
  • Six or more years experience leading teams in a management or leadership role, particularly in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment. (Preferred)
  • Extensive experience managing budget & financial products in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. (Required)
  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing teams, including abilities in persuasion, negotiation, change management, and mentorship. (Required)
  • Significant experience solving complex, technical and non-technical problems with budget, timeline, and resource implications. (Required)
  • Significant experience providing inclusive leadership of others, advancing an inclusive environment that values equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging. (Required)
  • Has significant experience leading in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment. (Required)
  • Experience in complex higher education environments, serving academic and administrative functions of a large public university. (Preferred)
  • Advanced understanding of how programs relate to other business strategies and initiatives. (Required)
  • Deep understanding of budget & financial management products and the product development lifecycle. (Required)
  • Highly skilled in written and verbal communications and is able to communicate on behalf of teams and relay highly complex technical information.

Significant experience communicating with technical and non-technical leaders. (Required)

  • Highly advanced project management skills with demonstrated experience delivering multiple complex projects, delegating responsibility, tracking project progress, managing others, and coaching teams on the prioritization of competing project / customer needs. (Required)
  • Able to delegate solutioning when appropriate. Experience as a point of escalation. understanding of how decisions affect teams.

ability to make decisions with integrity. (Required)

Integrates creative thinking and industry-leading practices into diverse team operations; has experience inspiring teams to innovate and grow. (Required)

Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

  • Bachelor's Degree In one or more of the following fields : business administration, computer science, information technology, finance, or another related field or equivalent experience / training. (Required)

Special Conditions for Employment

This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that includes regular visits to campus as needed (for those who work remotely, travel / lodging expenses are not eligible for reimbursement).

The anticipated pay range for this position is $175,748-$206,030, annually; salary is dependent upon the skills and experience of the selected finalist.
