The Sr. Manager API Product Management will support the growing API Strategy across Global Merchant and Network Services.

APIs are foundational to how American Express integrates with our partners and this role will play a pivotal role in defining the driving the strategy, governance and customer experience related to our API products.

A successful API Product Manager will serve as the bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring that APIs align with the organization's goals and drive value for internal and external users.

What is your role on our Team :

  • Develop and execute the API Product Strategy and roadmap based on customer needs, business goals and competitive trends
  • Gather and analyze feedback from internal and external customers and partners to identify opportunities for API product enhancements and new features.
  • Expand on existing governance of the API product lifecycle; working with the product teams, engineering teams, development teams, and other stakeholders to translate the API Product and Design frameworks into an exemplary customer journey.
  • Collaborate with product and development teams to ensure that the APIs can be integrated cross-functionally to promote product bundling opportunities.
  • Work with Developer Portal product team to ideate new features based on customer feedback, and more.
  • Collaborate with UI / UX designers to provide input to the development of intuitive and user-friendly interfaces and documentation to support the consumer journey
  • Work on the digital transformation of existing services into APIs.
  • Consider strategic implications of security, design and overall performance across APIs
  • Expand on current API reporting capabilities to create proactive servicing opportunities for any issues with APIs.
  • Analyze API usage metrics and behavior to improve API performance and usability
  • Work with Product and Technology teams from across American Express to influence the direction of API strategy.
  • Advise and guide leaders on different opportunities, and inform them on any new strategic initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proven experience in Product Management or related roles
  • Understanding of API design principles, RESTful architecture, security mechanisms and the API lifecycle
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather and interpret data to make informed product decisions
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence, negotiate and drive decisions across a wide range of diverse partners in a highly dynamic environment
  • Strong project management aptitude, preferably including understanding of Agile methodology and practices.
  • Passion for technology and innovation with a track record of delivering new capabilities that fulfill customer needs and business objectives
  • Strong aptitude for balancing multiple deliverables simultaneously, using effective prioritization and multi-tasking skills
  • Flexibility and readiness to work within a global team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Program and Project management experience, leading and governing complex projects across multiple teams and geographies
  • Prior API development experience

Salary Range : $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
