Pediatric Oncology, Endowed Position and Section Head

The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and the Department of Pediatrics at Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine seek a nationally recognized leader on the clinician-educator or investigator track to be Section Head of Oncology and Director of the Liquid or Solid Tumor Program.

This leadership role is supported by an endowed faculty position / chair in the Department of Pediatrics.

The successful candidate should have a national reputation in the field of pediatric oncology and possess a vision for the growth of all aspects of a nationally recognized center of excellence, including its clinical, research, educational and advocacy missions.

The qualified applicant will have a strong track record of research / scholarly productivity, experience in program development / operations and demonstrated mentoring and leadership skills.

We ultimately seek an outstanding candidate to lead the Oncology Section and the Brain Tumor Program to the next level of excellence.

The Oncology Section currently comprise 9 pediatric oncologists, 8 advanced practice providers and who collaborate with a dedicated team of pediatric surgeons, radiation oncologists, pathologists as well as ancillary service providers.

The program actively engages in clinical trials through investigator-initiated efforts, consortia participation such as the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), Therapeutic Advances in Childhood Leukemia (TACL), as well as basic / translational and patient outcomes research.

The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Lurie Children’s Hospital and the Division of Hematology, Oncology & Stem Cell Transplantation is highly ranked nationally and comprise 28 physician / physician scientist faculty, 2 PhD research faculty and 38 advanced practice providers across sections of Hematology, Oncology, Neuro-Oncology, and Stem Cell Transplantation.

We have a diverse federally funded and industry sponsored research portfolio as well as actively participate in consortium-led studies in COG, the Therapeutic Advances in Childhood Leukemia (TACL), Pediatric Brain Tumor Consortium (PBTC), Pediatric Transplant and Cellular Therapy Consortium (PTCTC), North American Pediatric Aplastic Anemia Consortium (NAPAAC) among others.

We also have an outstanding ACGME-accredited fellowship program with 10 to 11 current fellows and advanced fellows.

Qualified candidates will have strong leadership skills and the ability to work with teams on patient focused division-centric, and hospital wide initiatives.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience.

Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D. / Ph.D. or equivalent degree and be board-certified in pediatric hematology / oncology and advanced training in pediatric oncology.
