Job Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership :

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the database development team.

  • Design, develop, and optimize database systems to meet business requirements.
  • Recommend improvements to the database architecture and design to enhance scalability, availability, and security.
  • Collaborates with the DevOps team to automate database deployments and integrate with CI / CD pipelines.
  • Documentation :
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database systems and processes.

  • Innovation :
  • Stay updated with the latest database technologies and best practices, and implement improvements as needed.

  • Database development support :
  • Monitor and optimize database performance, ensuring high availability and reliability. Work closely with software developers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to integrate database solutions with applications.

  • Perform code reviews to support database development.
  • Perform database deployments.
  • Optimize database queries and stored procedures for maximum efficiency and performance.
  • Develop complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views to support business logic and application functionality.
  • Perform data modeling, including designing schemas, tables, indexes, and relationships, for both transactional and analytical use cases.
  • Provide support for troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues reported by application teams.
  • Work closely with application developers to integrate database systems with applications and ensure efficient data flow.
  • Azure Cloud Database Management :
  • Configure and manage Azure Databases, including automated backups, replication, and high-availability options.

  • Implement and manage database security, including encryption, access controls, and auditing, to meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure disaster recovery strategies are in place, including point-in-time restore and geo-replication for Azure SQL Database.
  • Stay current with Azure database services and industry trends, incorporating new features and best practices as appropriate.
  • General Database support :
  • Provide off-hours support when required.

  • Provide on-site disaster recovery assistance when required.
  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Education and / or Training

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Additional education, certifications, or other distinctions are a plus
  • Proficient in various desktop tools including MS Office Programs (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Azure AZ900, DP-900, DP-300 training required
  • Azure certifications such as Microsoft Certified : Azure Database Administrator Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert are highly preferred
  • Relevant Work Experience

  • Minimum 5 years tenure as a Database Administrator, with experience in relational architecture and Data Warehouse
  • Minimum 3 years' experience with installing, configuring, and supporting Oracle and / or SQL Server database environments
  • Experience with Azure SQL database environments
  • Understanding of Azure ecosystem and database services like Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Lake, Azure Key Vault, etc.
  • Must be well versed with database procedures including installation, configuration, backup and recovery, performance tuning, and SQL statement tuning
  • Experience using ETL tools to document and move data as needed
  • Experience with Linux operating system and shell scripting
  • Experience with Windows Server operating systems
  • Experience with scripting languages and automation tools is a plus (AI tools, Infrastructure as Code, Azure DevOps, PowerShell, and ARM templates)

    Compensation and Benefits

    Pay

    Starting salary range for full-time roles : $97,450.00 – $141,300.00 USD annually (base pay earnings, varies by experience, education, and location).
