What's your day like?

As a Surgical First Assistant at Minnesota Urology you will play a vital role in ensuring quality patient care through effective collaboration with surgeons during surgical procedures. Under the surgeon's direction, you will assist with various clinical tasks in both hospital operating rooms and freestanding outpatient surgery centers. Your responsibilities will include preparing the patient and the operating room, passing instruments, and providing essential support during surgeries.

Additionally, you may apply sutures, manage wound dressings, assist with sponging, hold retractors, and engage in hemostasis and wound treatment. This role allows for flexible scheduling, fostering career advancement while being integral to a team committed to empathetic, customer-centric care. Are you the Surgical First Assistant we're looking for?

To thrive as a Surgical First Assistant at Minnesota Urology P.A., you will need a robust skill set that aligns with our commitment to quality patient care. Proficiency in medical and surgical terminology is essential, enabling effective communication and collaboration with the surgical team. A minimum of two years of previous robotic surgical assisting experience is required, ensuring that you are adept in advanced surgical techniques.

Holding a Certified First Assistant (CFA) or Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) designation is preferred, showcasing your dedication and expertise in the field. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills are crucial for navigating the complexities of surgical procedures. Additionally, excellent verbal and written communication abilities will facilitate teamwork and enhance overall patient experiences.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are :

• Medical and surgical terminology required.
• Two years or more previous robotic surgical assisting experience required.
• Certified First Assistant (CFA) or Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) preferred.
• Ability to travel to all clinics and surgical centers of MNU.
