Summary of Position : The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for performing radiological duties in compliance with the x-ray department within the P.E. T. Center.

Education : Associates Degree

Experience : One (1) year experience preferred.

Skills : Excellent Communication Skills, both written and verbal; interpersonal and problem-solving skills; excellent customer service;

good organization and detail oriented; decision making skills; ability to use a computer equivalent to position

Requirements : ARRT Certification

Physical : Frequently required to stand; Regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle and feel; Reach with hands and arms;

Regularly required to talk or hear and see; Occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Regularly lift and / or move up to 20lbs, or more.

Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

1. Obtain orders from physicians regarding specific images to be taken.

2. Perform routine and non-involved radiographic examinations. This can include set up of x-ray equipment, setting controls on x-ray machine and placing x-ray film in appropriate area of patient’s body.

3. Develop and update department policies and procedures regarding x-ray procedures.

4. Coordinate all schedules with other activities to promote efficient service; as well as assisting in marketing the x-ray department.

5. Check and maintain equipment in a clean, proper and safe working order.

6. Report any malfunctions and take appropriate safety steps to correct issue. Contact and schedule outside maintenance service if needed.

7. Protect patient, yourself and staff from radiation exposure by practicing sound procedures which meet or exceed recommended industry standards.

8. Assist in the preparation and scanning or P.E.T. / CT patients. This includes preparing radiopharmaceuticals, injection of radiopharmaceuticals, and imaging responsibilities.

9. Explain procedures and observe patient to ensure safety and comfort during scan.

10. Obtain film(s) of highest quality under minimal direction and supervision.

11. Work effectively with patients, medical and nursing staff, administrative and support staff.

12. Maintain and update patent records.

13. Handle Quality Control aspects of x-ray and P.E.T. / CT.

14. Participate in meetings and training as required.
