Description

Amazon.com has launched a new service called Transparency which is sold to brands who seek to prevent counterfeit items from entering the supply chain.

Its Day 1 for this new service and were looking to build a team who want to be part of solving a 1.7 Trillion dollar global, retail industry challenge.

This service is intended to address global counterfeit concerns across all retail channels.

Goal of this team is to expand and manage software service that allows brands and manufacturers to prevent counterfeit items from entering the supply the chain.

The vision for this service is to be the standard for global, retail agnostic, track and trace and beyond Amazon scale. It will disrupt the way consumers search for products based on their authenticity and transparency in origin and materials used in manufacturing.

You will be part of building a highly scalable service and redefining industry standards for item level tracing. You will also gain exposure to various AWS services that this service is being built on, such as : DynamoDB, Redshift, Lambda, Firehose, S3 / Glacier, Cognito, SNS, Fargate and others.

This service is also integrated with various Amazon internal systems workflows related to Vendors, Sellers and Fulfillment technologies as well as having direct customer and brand facing systems such as brand portal, externally exposed API, product detail pages and the Amazon shopping app.

We are looking for a strong technical leader to drive efforts to build a brand new product that will become a new business for Amazon.

Industry experience with one of more of the following domains : Large-scale distributed systems, web technologies, mobile development is highly recommended. You will have

excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.

As the Software Development Manager, you will define software architecture, and guide a team of developers to implement it with you.

You will work closely with your product and development counterparts to make sure we incorporate customer input into our new service and define requirements to meet technical options.

In addition, you will coordinate software development across multiple teams, ensuring our service and other Amazon services are designed to work in conjunction.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience
  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software / hardware / networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring / coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
  • Master's degree

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400 / year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700 / year in our highest geographic market.

Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and / or other benefits.
