Summary

  • Looking for candidates who have done heavy automation using PowerShell and not a SQL DBA.
  • Required Skills : PowerShell, AWS, Always ON, and SQL DBA.
  • Requires minimum 12 years of overall IT experience with at least 6 years of experience in each of the required skills.
  • Position is based out of San Antonio, TX and non-local candidates must relocate to San Antonio, TX from day one.
  • This is a potential 12-month contract position with chances of extensions.

We are seeking a skilled and experienced SQL Server Administrator with expertise in PowerShell scripting and managing SQL Server Always On Availability Groups. This role is responsible for ensuring the high availability, performance, and reliability of our SQL Server instances and databases, utilizing automation, monitoring, and proactive management techniques.

Responsibilities

SQL Server Always On Availability Groups in Cloud (AWS) – Very Strong

  • Implement, configure, and maintain SQL Server Always On Availability Groups for high availability and disaster recovery.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Always On Availability Group issues, including failovers, data synchronization, and replica health.
  • Manage the deployment and monitoring of Always On Availability Group replicas, including primary and secondary replicas.
  • Perform routine checks on Availability Groups to ensure proper synchronization and optimal performance.

    • PowerShell Automation & Scripting - Very Strong

  • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for automating routine database administration tasks, such as backups, restores, replication, and monitoring.
  • Automate the configuration and management of SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, including failover processes, health checks, and scaling operations.
  • Develop custom scripts for health monitoring and alerting for SQL Server instances, clusters, and Availability Groups.
  • Leverage PowerShell to interact with SQL Server and Azure SQL environments for consistent and reliable performance.
