Job Summary

Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams;

carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required; performs nursing care for patients with more complex needs with assistance and supervision.

Assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team.

Please note : The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point.

An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description

Our Pediatric Hematology Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant unit (C6) is located on the 6th floor of the UCSF - Benioff Children's Hospital in San Francisco.

The overall unit is divided into two smaller units, a 24 bed Heme / Onc unit and a 13 bed Bone Marrow Transplant unit.

The Pediatric Hematology Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant unit (C6) specializes in the treatment of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and, Bone Marrow Transplant patients as well as in the care of several Pediatric Surgical sub specialties such as ENT and Urology.

C6 provides patients with a myriad of treatment modalities such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, gene therapy, Bone Marrow Transplant, and pain and palliative care.

The patient acuity ranges from high to moderate with 4 : 1, 3 : 1, and 2 : 1 RN to patient ratios.

Required Qualifications

• One Year of recent Pediatric Inpatient RN Experience
• Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
• Active American Heart Association CPR certification
• Active American Heart Association PALS certification
• APHON certification within 12 months of start date
• This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.

Preferred Qualifications

Two (2) or more years of pediatric in-patient oncology or BMT experience.

License / Certification

• Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
• Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
• Active American Heart Association PALS Certification
• APHON certification within 12 months of start date
