Commissioning Manager

Job Description :

Leads a diverse, multi-discipline team of contracted Commissioning Supervisors through the planning, execution and testing of new construction power plant commissioning within defined budgets, schedules and environmental targets.

Directly interacts with EPC Contractors, engineering firms, OEM equipment suppliers, off-taker Utilities, regional transmission system operators, Nextera Plant Operations and staff organizations to develop a fully integrated commissioning plan and to manage issues as they arise.

Through system turnover walkdowns and execution of Nextera's verification and Validation checks, assures a quality product meeting the project's performance objectives is accepted from the construction contractor(s) in the required sequence, tested and turned over to Nextera Operations.

Furlough Notification

All NextEra Energy Contingent Workforce Program (CWP) assignments are eligible for worker furlough. Typical furlough schedules coincide with select national holidays, but may be subject to change.

Suppliers will be notified by the CWP of those workers impacted and the applicable furlough dates prior to each furlough period.

BESS Commissioning Manager- ANALYTICS

Job Description :

Work on one of the world's largest Battery Energy Storage System Developers, for the client as their Commissioning Manager-Analytics.

The primary roles are to conduct plant testing, performance testing, ISO / GIA / PPA Testing and startup of a Battery Energy Storage System and Solar Coupled Power systems.

To act as the Owner's representative to oversee aspects of the energy storage system including : compliance, status reporting, safety, startup, commissioning, and testing.

Employees in this role manage and report on commissioning, and performance testing work performed by contractors and / or vendors at the project site.

Location :

The position involves occasional travel within the United States to project locations for testing purposes, with an estimated travel frequency of up to 25%.

The remaining work is primarily remote, focused on providing support through SCADA monitoring.

Reports To :

Client Senior Cx Project Manager

Preferred Background :

Engineering or professional electrical career in power systems construction and startup with min 100MW-hr or 5 EA energy storage systems and commissioning.

A background with BESS is required. Experience with SCADA is preferred.

Required Skill Sets :

Battery Energy Storage Systems installation and startup

Must have a thorough understanding of the technical, performance, and integration of Li-Ion batteries as part of ESS

Commissioning process creation

Understanding of containerized systems, skids, controllers / SCADA, transformers, combiners

Thorough understanding of DC systems (0-2,000Vdc) and AC systems (480V-34.5kV)

Experience with control and SCADA systems and troubleshooting

Organizations skills

Computer skills MS word, Excel and MS PowerPoint

Communication to third parties and executives

Ability to effectively organize and strategize schedules and plans.

Participates in safety program and audits

Support PPA Testing with Customer

Support GIA Testing with TO

Support ISO testing

Manage test energy forecast with the customer

Support ICCP IT SCADA Team and SCADA PM / Lead with functional checks

Work with SCADA Integrator and Execution Commissioning Project manager to develop a Commissioning schedule based on Mechanical completion

Work with SCADA integrator and Commissioning Manger to execute site acceptance testing.

Support CEWIS Critical Point Checkout with ROCC alarm checks / PGD

Perform OEM Testing

Perform Plant Balancing

Perform Capacity Testing

Perform notification of AVR / AGC and support

Review performance data for deficiencies

Physical Requirements

Must be able to see color to discern color-coded HMI controls

Prolonged periods of screen time and sitting

Ability to operate a motor vehicle for purposes of commuting between 2 working locations
