Overview :
The Production Manager oversees manufacturing processes, coordinate and supervise production supervisors and personnel to meet / exceed the company’s key performance indicators (Safety, Quality, and Productivity).
This includes managing optimal production equipment to produce a product that meets or exceeds our customer’s expectations.
This includes, but not limited to safety, equipment, production and quality, continuous improvement, development and management of its human resources and any other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities :
- Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and provides clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations.
- Supports and investigates situations in which line / equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk.
- Completes responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and applicable laws
- Ensures the proper training and development of all assigned employees for whom they are responsible.
- Sets goals for their organizational unit; achieves goals and ensures that all employees understand and work toward achieving goals.
- Motivates and coaches employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback. Identifies and coordinates additional training as needed.
- Understand and enforce all Federal, State, and Local laws and guidelines relevant to the manufacturing facility.
- Understand implement and enforce the organizational policies on Safety, regulatory, CI instructions, JSA’s, SOP’s, and other relevant policies.
- Establish manufacturing quality standards, methods, facilities, policies, and procedures by studying product requirements, obtaining engineering consultation, and determining equipment and facility budgets
- Organize the plant’s structure by assigning responsibilities, delegating tasks, and training employees
- Facilitate production by coordinating requirements with sales, quality, and customer service
- Complete production plan by establishing priorities, scheduling activities and monitoring progress; revising schedules, and resolving problems
- Maintain staff performance expectations by coaching, counseling and disciplining employees, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
- Achieve financial objectives by preparing manufacturing and maintenance scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiate corrective actions
- Incorporate and foster continuous improvement by developing metrics with plant employees to determine the root cause of non-conformity with formulations or production planning;
identify corrective measures to reduce waste (time and materials) in the plant; recommend preventative maintenance requirements to guarantee safe and efficient operation of equipment
- Lead the plant in safety initiatives and deployment of HSE policies and practices

Background / Experience :
- Manufacturing experience, preferably in the flexible packaging industry
- Experience working with extruders, laminators, slitters, and flexographic printing
- Minimum 5-years experience in a manufacturing setting
- Experience working with a diverse workforce
Education / Knowledge :
- College degree; mechanical or manufacturing preferred
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
- Successful track record in cost savings initiatives (safety, waste, process improvement)
- Computer skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Specific Skills :
- Ability to recognize mechanical and production issues and implement corrective actions
- Excellent communications skills to establish team culture and trust
