ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION :

  • For Service, Technical Support, Marketing & Sales Roles : Additional compensation is available through either an Incentive and / or Commission Plan.
  • For Employees who reside in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and California, additional compensation is offered through a Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA).

POSITION SUMMARY :

The individual in this position is responsible for a wide variety of sales related functions including sales of all assigned product lines, demonstrations, installations when feasible, training, reports as required, the maintenance and safekeeping of demonstration instrumentation, computers, software, and other company property, as well as other related duties which may be assigned from time to time.

This position is to reach or exceed assigned sales goals within assigned geographic territories through the Management of the US Representative Sales Organizations and in addition to ensure proactive harmonization of sales through the Japanese Trading Companies network.

JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO :

  • Establish and maintain a good relationship with all accounts; (Daily)
  • Timely submission of all required reports such as Call Reports, Expense Accounts, Forecast, Lost Order Reports, and bid opening results, (Daily)
  • Submission of Territorial Marketing Plans; (Quarterly)
  • Performing adequate sales calls, demonstrating and other calls as necessary; (Daily)
  • Achieving and maintaining a high level of technical proficiency in all areas related to the assigned product lines; (Daily)
  • Maintenance of account records; (Daily)
  • Conducting proper lead follow up programs; (Daily)
  • Maintenance and safekeeping of all assigned company property; (Daily)
  • Must travel overnight as the position requires by air and by car. (Weekly)
  • To achieve sales goals while maintaining excellent customer relations and reporting back the marketing factors, both good and bad, that affect the assigned territory. (weekly)
  • To coordinate the development of a productive sales network utilizing the existing network and adding new independent selling organizations to capture growth potential. (Weekly)
  • To manage the distribution of leads between al organizations. (Weekly)
  • To maintain the Japanese business through proactive communication with Japanese trading companies.

PROBLEM SOLVING REQUIREMENTS :

The incumbent must be able to make effective and efficient independent decisions per company policy and protocol to solve problems based on customer needs and requirements.

This role must have obtained at least two proficiency badges on products within the physical measurements product line, under the companies developmental badge program.

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :

  • Degree in a physical science or related engineering field.
  • At least one year of successful sales experience with one or more of our equivalent product lines;
  • Possess a valid driver's license.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :

None

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

The position requires frequent lifting (or by other means for movement) of instrumentation / parts. Physical demands may include frequent bending;

stooping, squatting, standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time and pulling / pushing of parts can also be expected.

Incumbent must be able to liftup to 20 pounds routinely throughout the day. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

SAFETY / PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT :

Position is required to maintain proper housekeeping and safety standards in-particular to laboratory safety protocol. Proper use of personal protective equipment and safety devices as required by the Corporate Safety Document policies and procedures and / or customer dictated policy.

WORK ENVIRONMENT :

This position is home based and will require daily travel to customer locations and / or the regional office. The position requires the incumbent to have the ability to work alone on projects, as well as, collaborating as part of team.

Incumbent may work at several different work sites during the course of a business day in order to support the needs of Shimadzu customers.

Extra hours may periodically be required, in-order to fulfill the functions required by this position. The position requires strong customer service skills so that proper handling of public inquires are managed in a prompt and professional manner.
