What you'll be doing :

Develop machine learning models at scale from inception to business impact

  • Adapt standard machine learning methods to solve business problems
  • Design and analyze randomized controlled experiments
  • As needed, develop robust feature and inference pipelines, and write production code

Serve as a deep learning domain expert, identify opportunities for the data science roadmap, and influence roadmap prioritization

  • Understand industry & company-wide trends to help assess and develop new technologies for inclusion in the roadmap
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance and mentorship for team members
  • Build Udemy’s technical brand through talks, blog posts, and publications

Take responsibility for autonomously leading major team initiatives

  • Be a technical leader working with partner teams and stakeholders, owning projects, and helping define and set technical direction for projects owned by others
  • Work autonomously, relentlessly prioritize, and collaborate with team members across time zones
  • Advocate for technical quality, effective team processes, and engineering best practices

What you’ll have

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 6+ years of hands-on Data Science or ML Engineering experience (4+ if you have a PhD)
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in one of the following technical domains : machine learning, recommendation systems, pattern recognition, NLP, artificial intelligence, or a related technical field
  • Proficiency with 1+ programming language(s) (e.g. Python)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

We understand that not everyone will match each of the above qualifications. However, we also realize that everyone has unique experiences that can add value to our company.

Even if you think your background might not perfectly align, we'd love to hear from you!
