Salary range : The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay at appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and / or step.

The base pay range for this position is $237,000 - S500,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan.

Position description

The University of California San Diego, a renowned institution committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body, is seeking a passionate and skilled Pediatric Cardiac Intensivist to join the Division of Cardiology within the Department of Pediatrics and Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego.

Collaborating closely with the Rady Children's Heart Institute, the successful candidate will join our dedicated Pediatric Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit.

As a Pediatric Cardiac Intensivist, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the 30-bed Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) and will join the Division's roster of thirty faculty including two experienced cardiac surgeons and seven cardiac intensivists.

The incumbent will provide expert cardiac critical care to individuals with congenital or acquired heart disease, from newborns to young adults.

The successful candidate will also be expected to support the mission of delivering high-quality care, teaching, and scholarly activities while promoting an environment that supports diversity, equity, and inclusivity among faculty, students, and staff.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications

Candidates must have an MD or equivalent and must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification / permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.

Candidates must be board-eligible or board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.

Candidates must have at least one of the following criteria :

  • A subspecialty in Cardiology with an additional year of advanced cardiac intensive care fellowship
  • A subspecialty in Critical Care Medicine with an additional year of advanced cardiac intensive care fellowship
  • A subspecialty in Pediatric Anesthesia with additional training in cardiac critical care
  • Dual fellowships in cardiology and critical care
