Accounts Payable Specialist

Are you an Accounts Payable professional with a knack for detail, a history in the construction industry, and strong expertise in Microsoft Excel? Our client in Berlin, CT, is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join their team on a contract basis. If you have the required skills and experience, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and verify invoices, purchase orders, and payment requests.
  • Match invoices to purchase orders and receipts accurately.
  • Ensure the timely payment of vendor invoices and expense reimbursements.
  • Reconcile accounts payable transactions and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain up-to-date vendor files and records.
  • Assist in month-end closings and reporting activities.
  • Communicate with vendors to address payment statuses and inquiries promptly.
  • Support any audits and compliance requirements to ensure proper documentation and adherence.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of accounts payable experience, with a preference for candidates with a background in the construction industry.
  • Familiarity with construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, Viewpoint, or similar) is highly advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with vendors and team members.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel.
