Part time Physical Therapist needed for school Program in Pompton Plains, NJ
INVO is seeking a part time Physical Therapist for a school program in Pompton Plains, NJ.
The therapist will work collaboratively with educators, parents, and other health professionals to support students with physical disabilities or developmental delays.
This role focuses on helping students achieve their highest level of independence and academic participation within the school environment.
Key Responsibilities :
- Assessment & Evaluation : Conduct thorough physical therapy evaluations of students, including strength, mobility, posture, and motor skills.
- Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) : Collaborate with the IEP team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each student's specific needs.
- Therapy Sessions : Provide direct therapeutic interventions to improve physical functioning, motor skills, balance, coordination, and participation in daily school activities.
- Collaboration & Consultation : Work closely with teachers, school staff, and parents to support students' educational and functional goals.
Offer recommendations on adaptive equipment, accommodations, and modifications as needed.
- Documentation : Maintain accurate and timely records of assessments, therapy sessions, progress notes, and IEP goals in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Training & Education : Provide guidance and training to staff and families on proper techniques, strategies, and interventions for students with physical needs.
- Compliance : Ensure that all therapy services comply with state and federal guidelines, as well as district policies.
Qualifications :
- Education : Master's degree or Doctorate in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Licensure : Valid NJ State Physical Therapy License.
- NJ Dept of Education Certificate
- Experience : Experience working in a school setting or with pediatric populations is preferred.
- Skills :
- Strong knowledge of pediatric physical therapy practices.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to develop and implement individualized therapy programs.
- Familiarity with the special education process, including IEPs and 504 plans.
Working Conditions :
- Part-time position; flexible schedule to be determined based on district needs.
- Work is primarily conducted within the school environment (classrooms, gyms, playgrounds).
- Occasional lifting or physical assistance may be required for students.
