Corporate Development Acquisition Specialist
Under general direction with a high level of autonomy, knowledge and skills obtained through education and relevant industry experience to formalize Raymond James' inorganic growth strategy. Responsible for coordinating the firm's acquisition efforts including identifying and qualifying acquisition targets, monitoring qualified acquisition opportunities, evaluating specific transactions, managing the transaction, execution, and integration process. In each of these areas, this position will work closely with senior management (CEO, RJ Executive Leadership, etc.), Head of Corporate Development, and all relevant Business Unit Heads.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Corporate Development deal team and Business Units to progress on deal execution, including coordinating with external / internal legal counsel and integration efforts
- Responsible for compiling and analyzing acquisition target lists for each of the business units through on-going coordination with Executive Leadership, Head of Corporate Development, Business Unit Heads. Detailed information on each target would be disseminated to the relevant audience and maintained in a central repository.
- Responsible for maintaining contact with the targets and their advisors.
- New targets / opportunities would be developed through networking with investment bankers, industry sources, etc.
- Take the lead on valuation, industry comps, modeling and deal assumptions.
- Take the lead in deal execution including preparing presentations for Senior Executive and Board (on occasions) and coordinating with internal partners.
- Develop and monitor two levels of targets, strategic and niche. Strategic acquisitions are defined as being of sufficient size and the scope that they would have a significant impact on the firm. Niche acquisitions are defined as opportunities that are confined to a single business unit or not large enough to have a meaningful impact on the firm.
- Act in cooperation with an appointed person from the business unit in evaluating the opportunity, determining the appropriate value and negotiating terms of a transaction. For acquisitions which overlap multiple business units, act as the transaction quarterback and coordinate efforts across the relevant business units.
