Profile :
A law firm in San Francisco, CA, is seeking a Privacy and Cybersecurity Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of experience in data privacy counseling.
The role involves leading projects, interfacing directly with clients, and developing and implementing comprehensive compliance programs to address privacy and cybersecurity issues.
Duties :
- Lead privacy and cybersecurity projects, maintaining direct client communication and managing project timelines.
- Conduct compliance gap assessments to identify and address privacy and security weaknesses.
- Develop and implement comprehensive compliance programs, including drafting privacy policies, procedures, and guidance.
- Create and review documents such as data subject request (DSR) procedures, incident response plans, tabletop exercises, and contracting templates.
- Develop and manage playbooks related to data sale / sharing, targeted advertising, and other privacy-related matters.
- Provide practical advice and implement state privacy laws (e.g., CCPA, WA MHMD) and ensure compliance with these regulations.
- Offer expertise on adtech and online tracking technologies, including TCPA, CANSPAM, and DAA / NAI / IAB self-regulatory rules.
- Advise clients on compliance within the financial and health / life sciences sectors, including GLBA, CalFIPA, FCRA, HIPAA, and related regulations.
- Assist clients in prioritizing and managing risks, ensuring effective implementation of compliance programs.
Requirements :
- 3-5 years of practical experience in data privacy and cybersecurity counseling.
- Demonstrated experience providing advice and implementing state privacy laws such as CCPA, WA MHMD, and other similar regulations.
- Preferred experience in the financial and health / life sciences sectors, including familiarity with GLBA, CalFIPA, FCRA, FTC / CFPB rules, HIPAA, and state health privacy laws.
Education :
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Certifications :
- Admission to practice in the jurisdiction (California).
- Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP-US, CIPT, CIPM) preferred but not mandatory.

- Experience working in a large law firm environment preferred; boutique specialists may also be considered.
