JOB SUMMARY

TheRadiologic Technologist, under general supervision of aRadiologist, performs radiology procedures on ambulatory andhospital patients as requested by a physician or other licensedprovider for the diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance withestablished protocols.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THEROLE

Performs high quality radiology procedures,according to exam protocol, in a timely manner. Maintainsproduction and quality of imaging procedures by followingestablished standards and procedures.

Utilizes AIDET whencommunicating with patients to : identify patient servicerequirements, ensure correct exam is performed on the correctpatient, and establish rapport with patients and others.

Instructsand communicates with patients and their family regarding the testto be performed and assesses patient's ability to tolerateexam.

Prepares patient and area for procedure bypositioning patient, adjusting immobilization devices, movingequipment into specified position and adjusting equipment controlsto set exposure factors.

Protects patients and employeesby adhering to safety requirements, infection-control, drug andradiation policies, protocols and techniques.

Uses proper steriletechniques when setting up and performing invasive multimodalityprocedures and maintains hand hygienerequirements.

Maintains equipment and work area to meetquality and cleanliness standards. Works with engineers andphysicists to ensure optimal operational capabilities ofequipment.

Reports issues to management or appropriatedepartment. Assists in maintaining suppliesinventory.

Ensures people are safe to enter thedepartment by screening them according to approved policies andprocedures.

Obtains, verifies and maintains all relevantdocumentation such as requisition / chart, patient history, pregnancystatus and shielding precautions taken, consent forms, policies andprocedures, etc.

Maintains medical imaging records inappropriate system and according to department policies andstandards for interpretation in a timely manner.

Able to perform high quality radiologyprocedures according to exam protocol in a timelymanner.

Able to explain the procedure and put patients atease.

Able to provide services in a timely, accurate, andcost-efficient manner in compliance with established System andregulatory standards, policies and procedures.

Able toperform tasks exclusively without need for routineoversight.

Able to maintain a calm and helpful attitude,even under times of stress, and take appropriate and reasonablesteps to resolve issues.

Able to effectively administerfirst aid and use emergency cart.

Able to ensure customersatisfaction by limiting wait times, providing courteous service,remaining professional, reviewing patient satisfaction scores anddeveloping action plans when required.

Demonstrates andmaintains current knowledge, continued education and skillsappropriate care for the following age groups (specific todepartment) : newborn, pediatric, young

adult, adult andgeriatric.

Able to serve as preceptor by providingquality training to new team members and on new services andinitiatives.

Able to take call, ifrequired.
