DOT Compliance Manager
Job Summary
Responsible for ensuring fleet and driver and compliance with the FMCSR and other DOT regulations for 2,000+ power units.
Coordinate and conduct training and coaching activities to ensure the compliance of team members. Partner with Operations regional leadership to drive continuous improvement in training and compliance.
Provide metrics and analysis to regional leadership on fleet performance.
Job Description
Responsibilities :
DOT Compliance Oversight
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local transportation laws.
Maintain thorough records related to the company’s transportation activities. Monitor compliance with all applicable transportation and OSHA safety regulations and laws.
Keep abreast of new safety regulations and practices and modify company policies and procedures accordingly.
Work with external agencies and stakeholders to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Assist in the management of driver hiring and training systems.
Assist in the daily review and corrective action of hours of service, unidentified driving and ELD compliance.
Safety Programs :
Assist in creating and implementing safety programs to reduce fleet crashes, environmental releases, property damage mishaps and injuries in transportation.
Assist in conducting safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and safety issues as needed.
Assist in training employees at all levels on safety procedures and regulations. Assist in Investigate accidents and incidents to determine causes and develop preventative measures as needed.
Vendor Management :
Oversee relationships with vendors that support Medline’s DOT compliance processes.
Negotiate contracts with vendors and conduct regular business reviews with vendors.
Manage department budget and vendor spend and implement cost savings strategies.
Risk Management :
Monitor driver scorecards and conduct risk reviews with Fleet Supervisors. Compile metrics and provide trend analysis to Operations leadership on a continual basis.
Additional responsibilities include :
Manage DOT Compliance Admin team
Budgetary responsibility and usually contributes to budgetary impact.
Interpret and execute policies for departments / projects.
Recommend and implement new policies or modifications to existing policies.
Provide general guidelines and parameters for staff functioning.
Qualifications :
Bachelor degree in Safety, Transportation, Management or Business Administration or a related field.
At least 5 years in a compliance or safety role in a 100 plus vehicle fleet.
At least 2 years of audit and compliance experience with a focus on FMCSR standards.
Experience leading and coordinating concurrent fleet projects, competing priorities and critical deadlines.
Position requires approximately 25% travel (within state and out of state).
Conflict management and problem-solving skills.
Develop responses and action plans to USDOT interventions and safety audits as needed.
Capable of performing extensive amounts of due diligence and research on incidents involving legal counsel in support of the company in legal proceedings.
Ability to effectively speak before groups of team members and customers of Medline.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications :
Certification / Licensure
Certified Transportation Professional (CTP) preferred but not required
Certified Director of Safety (CDS) preferred but not required
