Pay Grade : Specialist 8
The purpose of the Career and College Access / NC Career Coach is to assist students in developing career goals, aligning programs of study, and providing individualized assistance with all aspects of the enrollment process to increase post-secondary enrollment.
Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions)

- In partnership with assigned schools, provides career exploration opportunities and related programming to high school learners
- Provides proactive career and college access advising to students with emphasis on professional pathways enrollment
- Connects students with support services and resources to facilitate successful transition into the college environment
- Engages business and industry leaders
Engages with key administrators to assess the needs of each school and receives support for the career and college access activities
Assists students in the career exploration and pathway selection process by administering inventories and assessments
Advises students on CTE pathway options and monitors progress within pathway selections
Maintains accurate and adequate student records to assist in the annual mandatory reporting required by the grant
Serves on the Business Alliance for each assigned school
Refers students to resources at Wake Tech that may include Financial Aid, Career Services, WakeWorks, Workforce Continuing Education, Career and College Promise, and Academic Advising areas and supports the work of these areas within the assigned schools
Participates in outreach events held at Wake Tech approximately two times per semester Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Ability to plan and implement a strategic set programs and activities in an organized and efficient manner
Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
Ability to serve as an advocate for individuals of all ethnicities, genders, ages, and backgrounds
Ability to develop positive and collaborative relationships with all stakeholders
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to work independently
Ability to use all Microsoft Office tools
Ability to assess the effectiveness and ROI for activities and events
Ability to work in a team environment
Minimum Requirements :
Bachelor’s Degree
Two years experience in recruitment, student success, or college access activities
Valid driver’s license with approval required by the College’s Liability Insurance Carrier
