Children’s Care - PCCU

The Paediatric Critical Care Unit (PCCU) philosophy is one of family-centered care and involves working with families during grief and loss in traumatic circumstances.

The Registered Nurse would be responsible to provide acuity based care to critically ill children from ages 0-17 while maintaining an active teaching environment involving all disciplines.

Regular Full-Time

Rate of Pay : $39.07 per hour - $56.00 per hour

Qualifications

  • Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Proof of a current BLS for Healthcare Providers course : BLS-HCP(C)
  • Completion of NRP and PALS preferred
  • Completion of a recent breastfeeding course preferred
  • Demonstrated proficient math skills
  • Demonstrated excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated effective organizational skills involving time management and prioritization
  • Demonstrated ability to manage change in a dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development and self-directed learning
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency with Automated Clinical Systems
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s vision, purpose and values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements :

  • Before beginning employment at LHSC, all new hires will be required to :
  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus / Diphtheria / Polio; Meningitis;
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step);
  • Provide proof of Health Canada-approved COVID-19 vaccination reflective of Ontario Health’s current definition of being fully vaccinated
