The Hired Guns are seeking a Design Director, Graphics, Video, and Photography to develop and produce exceptional data-forward visual journalism at a thriving digital news magazine for K-12 educators.

A digital publication serving professionals in the K-12 education sector is hiring an experienced Design Director, Graphics, Video, and Photography.

With an audience of teachers, principals, superintendents, and administrators, this outlet serves the news, opinions, spotlights, and features that educators and administrators care about most.

In this role, you will lead the visual coverage of major national news developments in the education space (there’s a LOT of that!) as well as run the design strategy and visual approach for the organization’s suite of products.

You’ll come up with graphics, video, data visualization your imagination’s the limit. You’ll answer directly to the Editor in Chief, work in collaboration with editors and reporters and lead a team of designers, photographers, and videographers.

You’re agile and adept at planning and delivering high-impact graphics for digital newsrooms and / or educational organizations.

You have experience in both journalism and user / audience development and are able to create compelling presentations for savvy audiences.
