Job Description :
The Rise School of Dallas provides the highest quality of early childhood education services to children with Down Syndrome and other developmental disabilities and to children without disabilities in an inclusive classroom setting.
The Rise Teacher Assistant is to provide the highest quality of early childhood education and therapeutic services to children with or without disabilities from 6 months 6 years of age.
Monday through Friday and occasional afterschool events.
The teacher assistant's responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Treat all children with dignity and respect;
- Assist the teacher in providing instruction to the children in large groups,
- small groups, and individually;
- Assist the teacher in planning and preparing materials for daily instruction;
- Supervise the classroom when the teacher is out of the room;
- Maintain a clean and safe learning environment;
- Interact appropriately with professionals and families;
- Understand the curriculum;
- Understand the implications of specific disabilities;
- Perform specific medical procedures under the supervision of the teacher;
- Organize and prepare lunches and snacks;
- Clean and do laundry as required;
- Function as a team maintaining a professional attitude and loyalty to Rise at all times;
- Assist in public relation events sponsored by the school;
- Participate in in-service and attending conferences; and
- Perform other responsibilities as designated by the Rise Director.
Job Requirements :
Must already have (or be able and willing to obtain) a CDA (Child Development Associates), our 12 college credit in child development as a requirement for NAEYC.
It is also recommended that the individual have experience in working with young children with special needs. All personnel are required to have documentation of physical and / or are in good health to work in a childcare setting, and tuberculosis tests, and are strongly encouraged to have the Hepatitis B vaccination.
All personnel without 2 years prior experience in a licensed childcare facility will require 24 hours of pre-service training.
All personnel are required to participate in a minimum of 24 hours of in-service per year. Physical ability, must be able to lift and or move up to 40 lbsMust maintain Annual CPR, First Aid, AED, Blood borne Pathogen Certification, Child Abuse Training Certification & Sexual Harassment Training Certification provided by the YMCA & Rise School.
