The Paralegal will provide direct support to lawyers by performing delegated legal work. This position supports attorneys within the Projects Real Estate practice area, which has a focus on real estate matters for energy projects.

This individual will assist lawyers in reviewing and analyzing due diligence documents, preparing real estate closing documents, state and county filings and recordings, and authorization and resolution documents, and act as a liaison between lawyers, associates, title companies, surveyors and clients.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

  • Assist lawyers in drafting, preparing and revising real estate documents such as agreements, contracts, amendments, closing documents, state and county required forms, and authority documents and resolutions
  • Coordinate document preparation, review and execution and keep lawyers apprised of deadlines and issues that arise during the course of a transaction
  • Review contracts and agreements for critical dates for closings and calendar all dates with reminders
  • Manage databases and computer programs to track and organize client files and matters
  • Verify deadlines are met through coordination with seller's counsel or buyer's counsel, lenders and title companies
  • Participate in meetings and telephone calls with seller's counsel or buyer's counsel, lenders and title companies
  • Conduct research and communicate with various state and county agencies requesting required forms and costs for obtaining information regarding taxes, zoning and transfer of property
  • Communicate with title companies and conduct research regarding various title endorsements needed for a specific transaction
  • Review and analyze title commitments and proformas to ensure all title requirements and requests have been met
  • Review and analyze due diligence materials in order to draft title and survey objection letters and other documents due for various acquisition, disposition, loan and joint venture transactions
  • Request lien and title searches
  • Prepare and organize necessary legal and closing documents for various closings, filing and other administrative duties as assigned
  • Research questions of law and fact, including some property investigations on site
  • Conduct research regarding various state and county requirements for taxes and transfer of real property
  • Acquire good standing and qualification documentation and other information on entities involved in transactions
  • Provide notary services
  • Manage team form files and communicate changes in official forms to the practice group
  • Prepare, request, organize and assemble all closing documents for closing binders

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, required
  • Minimum of three years of real estate experience, with experience in the energy industry preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work harmoniously and effectively with others as part of a team
  • Self-starter who is committed to the job, with flexibility to work overtime as needed
  • Exercises confidentiality and discretion
  • Demonstrates good judgment and good interpersonal skills
