The candidate will support the Quantum Sensing Technologies team to design, build, and test an atomic and optical experimental systems at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills :

  • M.S. in experimental physics, quantum information sciences or closely related field
  • Five years minimum demonstrated expertise in experimental or applied atomic or quantum information physics, optics or other closely related fields.
  • At least five years of experience in using, building and characterizing laser systems for applications in quantum sensing or atom interferometry
  • Position requires strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • US Citizen or Green Card holder.

Preferred Experience & Skills :

  • Ph.D. in experimental atomic physics, quantum information sciences or a closely related field
  • Experience in laser cooling experiments with alkali atoms (Rb and / or Cs preferred)
  • Experience with atom interferometry for inertial or gravity sensing
  • Demonstrated skills such as creative or independent problem solving
  • Experience with atomic cooling and trapping techniques
  • Experience building custom optical characterization experiment and / or equipment.
  • Familiarity with common computer languages, e.g. Matlab, Comsol, Python , etc.
