Advanced Step Gas Technician Apprentice / Journeyman Gas Technician

We anticipate the need for one or more Advanced Step Gas Technician Apprentice / Journeyman Gas Technician(s) to be located at our Faribault Service Center in Faribault, MN.

This position will require the successful applicant to reside within 20 miles of the Faribault Service Center. $50.60 is the rate of pay for Journeyman qualification. An Advanced Step Apprentice will be coming in at 75% of the Journeyman rate of pay for 3rd step, 81.25% for 4th step, 87.5% for 5th step or 93.75% for 6th step. Summary

District regulator maintenance, odorization, meter testing, instrument calibration, meter and large regulator sizing / maintenance / installation, plastic pipe fusion, service regulators, odorization, meter and regulation, tapping, operational surveys, customer priority work, fitting, equipment operation, knowledge and ability to respond to gas leak (inside and outside) investigation / emergencies, gas leak repair, cathodic protection, locating, meter reading, valve maintenance and material handling.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to obtain a Class A commercial driver's license (must meet driver qualification requirements as specified in FMCSR Parts 382 and 391) or pass the written portion of the CDL test within sixty (60) days of employment and pass the skills portion of the CDL test within six (6) months of employment.
• One or more years' Gas Construction and / or Gas Service experience. Journeyman-level requires three or more years of experience as a Gas Technician.
• Gas Technician experience preferred.
• Must be certified in plastic fusion per Xcel Energy requirements within 6 months of hire.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds safely.
• Must reside within a 20-mile radius of the Faribault Service Center.
• Must meet Operator Qualification requirements.
