Department Summary :

We are currently seeking a Cleared Software Engineer to join the Cross-cutting Urgent Innovation Cell (CUIC), an organization that is unique to MITRE because :

Roles & Responsibilities :

• Work on a team with other software engineers, business operations, and modeling&simulation staff to maintain and improve a virtual environment
• Create and present deliverables to government sponsor(s) and MITRE leadership
• Maintain and organize a software Bill of Materials for a virtual environment and ensure it meets MITRE and sponsor requirements.
• Coordinate and communicate with users, to include access control, environment needs, and requests.
• Track licensed products within virtual environment, to include usage and logistics
• Communicate updates (e.g. outages, patch windows) to environment users and operating team
• Ideate and architect shared software deployment strategies with lead software engineers

Basic Qualifications :

• Active TS / SCI clearance.
• Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree;

or a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

• Experience developing in linux / unix operating systems.
• Experience with software engineering concepts such as development, debugging, git, code reviews, continuous integration, and testing.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and capable of working in a cross-functional environment that includes engineers, scientists, data analysts, and technical software developers.
• Experience with container technologies / DevSecOps (e.g. Docker, Singularity)
• Strong organization and communication skills
• Experience in cloud compute environments (e.g. Azure, AWS)
• This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site

Preferred Qualifications :

• Experience with container orchestration tools (e.g. Kubernetes, OpenShift).
• Bachelors and / or Masters degree focus in computer science, engineering, or artificial intelligence and related work experience
• Experience developing in Python
• Experience in developing / coding in high-side environment(s) (e.g. JWICS)
• Security+ training or an equivalent IAT Level II certification
