Stella Maris Academy at Star of the Sea opened in 2021 as a classical Catholic K-8 school in the heart of San Francisco. The Position
Stella Maris Academy is seeking a passionate and engaging homeroom teacher for grades 1-2 who shares our vision of forming young minds and hearts through a classical liberal arts curriculum.
We are committed to providing our students with a rigorous, integrated, and authentic Catholic education. We seek an educator who has a background in the liberal arts, a passion for sharing their faith with young people, and a talent for engaging with students and helping them grow in the classroom.
The ideal candidate should :
- Have experience as an educator, ideally in a Catholic school setting;
- Possess a growth mindset and willingness to collaborate with others;
- Have experience with curriculum development, especially in the liberal arts;
- Have experience planning and implementing an elementary curriculum;
- Have experience managing a classroom for student success;
- Possess strong written and oral communication skills;
Be able to work in partnership with the school administration and parents as the first educators of their children.
Role Responsibilities :
- Teach all classes in the classical, liberal arts approach
- Develop and implement engaging, challenging curriculum and lesson plans in line with the schools classical education model
- Communicate with parents about students progress on a regular basis
- Support the growth, development, and health of the school in the areas of recruitment and community-building activities
- Be available for meetings after school hours when needed
- Support check-in, prayer, and check-out on select days
- Participate in professional development and teacher training opportunities
Required Qualifications :
A bachelors degree in a related subject
Teaching experience, ideally in a Catholic or classical education setting
