Childrens Mercy Kansas City is recruiting a full-time board-certified / eligible pediatric hospice and palliative medicine (HPM) physician to join the Division of Palliative Care in the Department of Pediatrics.
The Division of Palliative Care includes four full-time physicians who provide inpatient and outpatient palliative care as part of the Palliative Care Team (PaCT) while contributing to academic pursuits in education, quality improvement, community outreach, research, and bioethics.
- We have a pediatric HPM fellowship and serve as a core rotation for other fellowship programs at the institution, as well as an elective opportunity for residents and medical students.
- We embrace continuous improvement processes as a team and collaborate with other teams to optimize patient care.
- We work with hospices throughout Missouri and Kansas with opportunities for further outreach.
- We historically served in a consulting role on research projects and anticipate building a deeper research portfolio in the coming years.
- We collaborate on educational and clinical efforts with the Bioethics Center.
PaCT is a well-established team and includes the four attending physicians, a pediatric HPM fellow, and six registered nurses who help provide patient continuity.
PaCT is well-integrated throughout the hospital. During the last academic year, PaCT met almost 400 new patients while maintaining continuity with many more.
We care for patients spanning the entire pediatric age range, from before birth (in the Fetal Health Center) through young adulthood, and with a broad range of diagnoses that allows for collaboration with many other specialties throughout the health system.
We are very excited to be recruiting another physician and hope to find candidates who share our passion for the work and commitment to collaboration.
